![]() ![]() I woke up around 2am. I could see a lot of stars from the window. I went outside and started taking pictures of the stars. Clouds were partially covering the starry sky. By around 3am, most of the sky was visible. I was able to take a clear picture of the Milky Way. Then I slept for a few hours. It must be hot and tiring down below, but the weather was fine at the pass, with a cool breeze blowing and feeling pleasant. I took photos of two stone Kannon statues, then spent the day reading in the shade of the trees and visiting the old Shikazawa Onsen. My cat and I descended the pass around 4pm and headed towards Ueda. We arrived at our usual Bouyaka parking lot in Ueda at 5pm. The sun was setting and the temperature was dropping. I ate dinner that my wife cooked. |

It was 35 degrees inside, so hot that also Miya-O came into the air-conditioned room. We took a nap together in the before noon. For my lunch, I had curry rice. At 4:00 pm, I set off for Jizo Pass with my cat. We took rest breaks at the Kamisato and Yokokawa parking areas. We arrived at Jizo Pass at 9:00 pm. The Asama Star Cross Walk 2025 was being held at the pass. The 40km course runs from Tomi Central Park (grass field) to Yunomaru Kogen Jizo pass(first CP), Takamine Mountain Park (second CP and intermediate finish), and on to Komoro Castle Sannomon Gate. The pass was packed with people walking. The parking lot at the pass remains lit at night. It's so bright you can't see the stars. So I parked my FJ in the parking lot at Azalea Park, just down the pass on the Gunma side. It was cloudy and the stars were hard to see. So I got into my sleeping bag and went to sleep. I |

![]() I made a tuna, onion, cabbage, and wakame salad for my breakfast. I also had Camembert cheese toast and cafe au lai. The vacuum cleaner my wife was using in Ueda broke. She had already bought a new one of the same model. I brought the broken vacuum cleaner to Iwai. I repaired it today. As expected, the problem was a broken lead wire in the controller. In most cases, this is the two spiral wires that make up the hose. So I attached the controller directly to the hose joint. It was fixed. I used this vacuum cleaner to clean the interior of my FJ this afternoon. It was covered in cat hair, but it came out clean. |

It was already very hot at 8 a.m. I spent the morning cleaning the first floor and disposing of magazines and old books as paper recyclable waste. I bought a bear spray on Amazon. There are two types: one that sprays pepper liquid and one that sprays pepper mist. The mist type can get on yourself depending on the wind direction. So I bought liquid type. It's made in Germany and costs about 6,000 yen. I made tuna salad with sliced tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and basil leaves for my evening meal. I also had some ready-made inari sushi. |

I had it for my lunch. I purchased a used Canon EOS 6D Mark II digital SLR camera body on Amazon. The seller is Good Luck. It's in good condition and was 79,500 yen. It came with two batteries, a charger, and a wired remote shutter. I felt it was a great deal. EOS 6D Mark II was announced and released on August 4, 2017. I've wanted one ever since. I was planning to buy one if my 5D Mark II broke. Last year, a part of my 5D Mk2 broke, and the price of a used 6D Mk2 became reasonable, so I decided to buy it. My Canon EOS 5D Mark II No.1811204128 was broken 6 months before. It fell from table height to the floor. There are no major external cracks or scratches, but after that, the exposure became significantly overexposed during normal shooting. Normal exposure can be achieved during live view shooting. There are no cracks on the LCD monitor, but a few horizontal lines have appeared. There is a protective sticker on the monitor. For the past 6 months, I have been using live view mode to measure light and set the exposure in manual mode for normal shooting. I have recently upgraded to a higher-end model, so I am selling of it. The heat and lack of rain have caused my grass to wither. I watered it this evening, but it was too late now. |

Normal concentrations of herbicide are ineffective against Ohishiba. I sprayed a 5x stronger herbicide only Ohishiba. It may remain in the soil for about two weeks. It's probably acceptable since it's limited to just a few square meters. I shower immediately after using glyphosate herbicides because it's bad for it to stay on my skin for too long. Miya-O also took a shower for the first time in three years, as her face hairs were particularly dirty. |

LEFTFOTO Camera Full Cage for Sony Alpha looks cool, but I'm not sure how much protection it provides, and I think it has some disadvantage, such as being heavy. However, I showed it to my club members and introduced it to them. In the afternoon, it got very hot. I took a nap in the air-conditioned room, with my cat. My neighbor gave me some eggplant, okra, and bell peppers. I grilled them and had them for my evening meal. I also had a cucumber, tomato, and cabbage salad, toast, and cold pumpkin and sweet corn soup. I bought an aluminum alloy protective cage for my Canon EOS M5 on Amazon. It arrived today from China. The cost of acquisition was 4,115 yen including tax and shipping. There was also a part where the dimensions were not correct. I had to cut about 0.5 mm in one place. ![]() I woke up early. I walked 5 kilometers around Yasaka Park. I made cold Charumerafor my breakfast. Charumera is an instant ramen made by Myojo Foods. Cook the ingredients in the microwave and then chill in the refrigerator. Dissolve the soup powder in water and chill. Boil the noodles and then chill them in cold water. Arrange all of this together and it's ready. I participated in a bread-making class at Sarushima Community Center from 9:00. Today's assignment was to make Anpan. It went well. It was delicious. One of the students intended to ferment the dough in the oven, but accidentally burned it a little. The fermentation stopped, so it couldn't be made into bread. She said she wanted to throw away the dough, so I took it. The dough I received was made of flour, sugar, salt, and butter. The yeast was dead, but I was sure it'll still be delicious. I rolled out the dough and cut it into strips. I spread a little mayonnaise on the surface and sprinkled a few grains of salt on it. I baked it in my oven at 180 degrees for 12 minutes. The hardtack was done. It goes well with Camembert cheese. |

I used the same method as last night's meal. I also cooked the pumpkin in the microwave. It is easy method when it is hot day. It got very hot by 8 o'clock. I needed the air conditioner. Last night, I had a very strong cramp in my right leg while I was sleeping. As a result, I couldn't walk properly and was afraid of stairs. I thought I might not be getting enough fluids, so I started drinking 50ml every 30 minutes. It's been so hot these past few days that I've been stuck indoors, so today I went to my favorite sobaresrant Kimura and had large serving of Seiro Soba. I got hives and took anti-allergy medicine at 6 pm. My evening meal was also gyudon. It was served on a plate, however it was gyuu rice bowl. From 1:30 pm, I attended the photography class at Kamioumi Community Center. This time, I submitted a photo I took with my wife at Lake Yunoko at 2 a.m. on August 6. It was a background starry sky photo. I have added about seven photos of my wife and I that I have taken in various places. The instructor, Mr. Yamajo, seems to be good at taking photos of railway, fireworks, swans, kingfishers, flowers, and landscapes. I have no interest in fireworks or swans. Kingfishers are beautiful, but difficult to photograph with my equipment and skills. I take railway photos in between trips, and flower photos for the lens test. I submit photos of food, cooking, travel snapshots, stone Buddhas, historical buildings, selfies, cameras, cats, and more. He seems a little confused because I only submit photos of things he doesn't take. I took portraits of my cat at my entrance as the sun was setting. I made curry rice topped with chopped green peppers, natto, and sliced tomato for my evening meal. I also made salad with basil, green peppers, cabbage, and nuts. I also had plum jelly and yogurt. |

![]() My wife made breakfast, and I cleaned up afterwards. She went to her favorite hair salon in the morning. LEFTFOTO Camera Full Cage with Clip for Sony Alpha A7RIVA/A7IV/A1/A7RIV/A7SIII/A7M4/A7R4/A7R4A/A7S3 ¥4,999 Sold by: ZhenChuang Returns: Valid until September 13, 2025 I purchased this for use with my Sony ILCE-7RM3. It's best to check the following two points before purchasing: 1. You must remove the eyelet triangle from the right-side strap holder. This is because the strap holder is used to secure the product to the camera via a screw hole. Furthermore, the included parts were unable to secure the camera in the correct position, so I had to machine out about 2mm of space. Other models may also require machining. 2. You will need a new strap holder to use the strap. In my case, I attached a part I took from a junk camera to this product to make a strap holder. If you can overcome these two requirements, this product has excellent design, materials, and paint. I think the quality is worth the price. I made yakisoba for three people for our lunch. After lunch, the three of us went to my parents' house. We lit a paper lantern with the flame from the candles on the Buddhist altar and carried it to my family grave. We lit incense from the flame and offered it at the grave. The flame guided the spirits of our ancestors back to the underworld. This is the style of Okuri-Obon in this area. Then my wife and son returned Ueda city by her car. I went to Torisen to buy some groceries. I made asari and vegetable spaghetti with tomato sauce for my evening meal. |

Then We visited Starnet in Mashiko. We had the starnet seasonal course lunch at the cafe. sourdough garrett with seasonal vegetables, sourdough crepe with seasonal blessings of soil. (Galettes and crepes made with leavened dough). I think it's a little pricey at 2,800 yen per person, but my wife has a different opinion, and judges it based on whether it offers something she can't even imagine imitating. In Mashiko, Moegi Main Branch and Moegi Jonaizaka Branch are a must-visit. We visited tow. The following exhibits were particularly impressive: DRIFTWOOD & ANIMALS SCULPTURE. Hinaiji Yuzuru has carved animal-like pieces of driftwood that have washed up on the shore, taking advantage of their natural shapes. At the gallery "Moegi Main Store Atrium". |

The spirits of our ancestors will be guided by this fire and return to this world. This is the Mukae-bon custom of this region. During Obon, the spirits of our ancestors stay close to us. My wife, my son and I went to my wife's aunt's house in Minami Sakurai City, Saitama Prefecture to pray for Obon. ![]() ![]() I woke up around 7 am. It was pouring rain. Actually, I left my tripod in the parking lot of Ikenodaira Marsh on July 7th and it has since gone missing. I bought it on Yahoo! Actually, I took my tripod with me when I went for a walk in Yasaka Park around July 23rd, but I left it behind. I don't remember, but the tripod has disappeared. I bought it on Yahoo! Auctions for about 300 yen, but it was my second favorite and easy-to-use item, so it's a shame. Yesterday, I left my tripod in the bathroom on the first floor of the hotel, it was gone today. I often forget my tripod, so I put it right in front of me when I went to the bathroom so I wouldn't forget. Despite, I forgot it. What's more, 20 hours had passed without me noticing, and my memory of it is hazy. It's this hazy memory that's more shocking to me than the fact that my tripod was gone. I'm extremely disappointed. It was raining, I did not have a tripod, and I didn't have the energy to take pictures. So I decided to go home. Miya-O and I arrived in Utsunomiya City around 10:00. We took a rest in the parking lot of the Utsunomiya Museum of Art. There was shade and it was free. I went in because the special exhibition by Ryoji Arai looked interesting. He seems to be an artist who also creates picture books and spatial art. It was interesting. I had katsudon and soba at the restaurant Ajino Mingei. We arrived in Iwai around 4:00. It was cloudy and the sun was weak, but it was still hot and humid and we had to use the air conditioner. I went to Torisen to buy vegetables and milk. |

From the lakeside, we could see the Milky Way to the north. The Pleiades star cluster also looked large. We took photos there for about 90 minutes. After that, we went back to our hotel room and went to sleep. After breakfast, we checked out. We then walked counterclockwise around Lake Yunoko to Yudaki Falls and down to the basin. There are 380 steps from the top of the falls to the basin. A group of six young men saw the steps from the top and hesitated. They must have been here for the first time. In the end, they all said they were glad they had made it all the way to the basin. We climbed the steps and walked counterclockwise around Lake Yunoko before returning to the parking lot. ![]() My wife and I woke up before dawn. We strolled along the lakeside until we reached Chuzenji Temple just as the sun was rising. We took a commemorative photo on the lakeside in front of the temple. We went further to the British Embassy Villa Memorial Park and the Italian Embassy Villa Memorial Park, where we also took commemorative photos. Breakfast starts at 7am, so I walked back from there. It was a 3km round trip. Breakfast was delicious. I've been here a few times and the it was pretty much the same every time. I don't mind if it being the same for a week. After breakfast we checked out. I parked my FJ in the shade of the trees at the parking lot above Ryuzu Falls. From there, we walked down the Ryuzu Falls Promenade to Shobugahama Beach. A foreign couple had been walking behind us all the way from Ryuzu Falls, but we were overtaken at Shobugahama Beach. They were a young refreshing couple with a goodlooking. He seemed to say hello in Japanese. We walked counterclockwise around Lake Chuzenji to Tochikubo. They were taking a break at Tochikubo Beach. We also took a break at the beach a little distance away from them. The man started swimming on the lake. My wife and I were worried, but he seemed like a good swimmer. We walked from Tochikubo to Senjugahama Beach, and to Sainoko Lake. We took a break there. From Sainoko Lake, we returned to the road on the bus route. While waiting at the bus stop Sainoko Iriguchi, I met three mountain-loving men, all of whom were equipped with the bear repellent spray. I have like to buy it. We got on the bus from the Nishinoko Iriguchi bus stop. By chance, the foreign couple was on the bus. I asked him, "We have met before?" He said yes. Convinced, I said, "You were swimming on the lake." He said " You took photos." They got off at the same bus stop. They were going to take the anather bus from the Ryuzu Falls (above) bus stop. They were fast so they went first. We returned to the parking lot above Ryuzu Falls, taking photos. We checked into Kamenoi Hotel around 4pm. We immediately went to the hot springs. Even though I was super hungry, dinner didn't start until 7pm. I couldn't wait. I'd walked a lot on mountain trails that day and only had a little to eat at lunchtime. I love buffets every time, but my wife doesn't at evening meal, because she has to stand up in the middle of her meal to get a refill by herself. However, she ended up having three refills of the soft serve ice cream. |

![]() I woke up before dawn. Some of the clouds had cleared and the stars were visible. I took my photography equipment and walked a little along the lakeside. I had with a headlamp. The clouds were thin and only a few stars were visible. I gave up on photographing the stars. I waited until it got light and took pictures of the scenery before dawn. It was getting brighter, but the sun was still in the shade of the mountains. Foreign male and female models, a photographer and his assistant, and apparel staff arrived. There were about 15 of them in total. They began shooting. It looks like a photoshoot for an apparel catalog or magazine. There's a simple tent nearby for changing clothes, and a few clothes. Shoes and boots, too. I was interested in the photographer's equipment, his instructions to the models, and of course the beautiful models, so I watched. The female model asked her photographer, "Is he your staff member?" Probably because I had two cameras. He looked at me and said, "No." He then said something but I couldn't chach it. She laughed afterwards. I regretted not being able to hear what he was saying. I had sandwich that I bought at convenience store, granola yogurt, and cafe au lait for my breakfast by the lake. Then I watched YouTube and NHK morning drama at the visitor center. I left at 10:30 and went to Nikko Station to pick up my wife. I was stuck in traffic and it looked like I would be late, so we decided to meet at Fujimoto. I was able to avoid the traffic jam in front of the station and was comfortable, but my wife was drenched in sweat because it was an uphill climb from Nikko Station to Fujimoto. Cafe Restaurant Fujimoto's lunch started with a cold soup. Chef Oshida's skills was shining today as well. Fujimoto's yuba omelette rice was excellent, as were the brownie and cheesecake for dessert. My wife and I spent time by Yunoko lake until 5pm. Miya-O also did. It was cool, the scenery was beautiful, and the breeze was pleasant. I often stay at Chuzenji Pension. Breakfast and dinner are delicious and reasonably priced. However, the main dish is the same year after year, so I can't stay consecutive nights. They generally do not allow consecutive night stays. It is a family-run business and they are short on staff so they cannot accommodate multiple nights, but they say to ask when you make a booking.. We checked into Chuzenji Pension around 5:30. Dinner started at 6:00. The main fish dish was trout, and the meat dish was beef steak. After the meal, I took a bath and went to bed right away. |
