February 28th. My 71th birthday.I had Tamago kake gohan(rice with raw egg on top), granola yogurt, konjac,vegetables, and soybeans boiled, and cafe au lait for my breakfast.
I was born at 28th February 1954. So today is my 71th birthday. However I forget it until my wife sent to me email happy birthday. Birthdays aren't that important to me. Well, if I make it through the year, I feel like celebrating a little bit. After I turned 60, if I make it through any day, like a birthday, I feel like celebrating a little bit.
Today is the monthly meeting of Photo KANO Club, so I went to Chikusei City. Whenever I go to there, I always take pictures of Mount Tsukuba. However I didn't take any photos. It was very warm today. Maybe because of that, the view of Mt. Tsukuba was hazy and I couldn't see it very well.

February 27th. A dealer who buys unwanted items came.I baked potatoes that the variety is Horoshiri, produced by Calbee Potato I bought at Costco using my Dodge oven. I love it that eat and peel it with butter and soy sauce. I had them with sliced tomatoes, fried eggs, granola yogurt and cafe au lait for my breakfast.
A dealer who buys unwanted items came. This was a different company from the one who came in January. It's Jyosyo Co., Ltd. in Mito. He came from Mito. I sold him a broken sewing machine, a broken Nikon F3 camera, two broken old film cameras, and a compact digital camera. I sold them all for 11,500 yen. I thought it was about the same as what I would get on Yahoo! Auctions by my self. I also thought it was hassle-free, so it was a better deal than Yahoo! Auctions.
When using a mount adapter with a helicoid, the four corners of the screen will be chipped off with some old lenses.This is very unpleasant. I decided to cut off the interfering parts. I disassembled it, measured the dimensions of the parts, and considered whether I could cut them while maintaining the necessary strength. I made a cutting plan.
I have never bought rice since I got married. I have always gotten it from my wife's family. One day, I calculated the price of the rice I received, and it was over 3 million yen at that time. My father-in-law used to grow rice, but now he rents out his paddy fields. And he gets enough rice for his own consumption. I still get it from him.
I cooked rice. I made a stew with pork, carrots and konjac. I also had natto, and pickles for my evening meal.

February 26th. Mount Tsukuba.I arrived at the public parking lot of Mount Tsukuba around 11:00. I saw a father and daughter praying at Tsukuba Shrine. She is about 5 years old, but her manner of praying was very beautiful. I thought they prayed here and there all the time.
I tried climbing the Miyukigahara course near the cable car tracks. I arrived at Miyukigahara at 1:00 pm. I had a lunch there. I ate the hot sandwich I made yesterday.
Then I went to the top of Mt. Nyotai. The weather was good and I could see far into the distance. I descended on the Hakuunkyou course.
I got back to the parking lot at 4:40.
I filled up on gas at Costco. I got home at 6:40. Climbing Mt. Tsukuba is longer and the slope is steeper, so it's more tiring than climbing Mt. Hokyo.

February 25th. Pho.I got up very late.
I made a hot sandwich with carrot, cabbage, onion, ham and cheese. I left it standing on a plate on the kitchen windowsill for a while to dry. I had vegetable and gyoza soup, grilled atsuage, sliced tomatoes, granola, yogurt, and cafe au lait for my lunch. By the time I finished eating it was 11 o'clock.
Pho is a Vietnamese noodle dish made with flat rice noodles and soup. I made Pho that is a instant and I bought from Costco. I added sausage, aburaage, and plenty of vegetables. I had it for my evening meal.
I didn't eat a hot sandwich, I didn't eat lunch.

February 24th. RAID 1.I had grilled tofu, sliced apples and tomatoes, cabbage soup with granola and sweet bean paste mochi cafe au lait for my breakfast.

I have all the image files of the photos I have taken stored on the storages in my PC. The total amount of data is now 2 terabytes.
My all storages are running RAID 1. RAID stand for Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks. Redundancy means in the IT field, a state in which a system can continue to operate continuously without stopping.
RAID is a technology that uses multiple hard disks as one drive. RAID 1, also known as mirroring, is a technology that records the same data on two storage devices. This prevents data loss and system downtime due to hard disk failure.system downtime due to hard disk failure.
A problem occurred in the storage device that contains the image files. The data is accessible because it is operated in RAID1. Today, I backed up all the data. Later, I will buy a new hard disk in Akihabara to replace the faulty one.

February 23rd. Sandwich with cream cheese and Anko.I made a hot sandwich with cream cheese and Anko in mugwort bread. I also made sliced tomato, coleslaw salad, Sunnyside egg, granola yogurt, cabbage soup, and cafe au lait for my breakfast.
I had cabbage soup and nikumang for my lunch.
I mixed grated potatoes and cheese and added diced potatoes to it and baked it. I also made a soup with cabbage and tofu. I had them for my evening meal.

February 22nd. Saturday English class.I had tofu and vegetable soup, sliced tomatoes, coleslaw salad, fried eggs, granola yogurt, and cafe au lait for my breakfast,
It was Saturday. So I had Saturday English class. I walked to the chuo kominkan, and arrived at a few minutes before 10:00.
I dipped and eat somen noodles into miso soup with mixed nuts and lots of vegetables for my lunch.
I made Charumera with lots of cabbage, onion and broccoli. I ate it with a raw egg for my evening meal.

February 21st. Toyota FJ Cruiser..I had the takoyaki I bought yesterday at Gindako for my breakfast.
It is not I've avoided Toyota up until now. At first, I was fascinated by the light boxer sound of Subaru's 1600cc, then by the torque and the sound at low rpm of BMW's 6-cylinder. Now I own a Toyota FJ Cruiser. My father bought a Volkswagen Beetle. I grew up listening to the sound of the boxer engine from his passenger seat. If my father had chosen Toyota at that time, I might have been a Toyota forever. Toyota isn't so bad.
Miya-O chan was sleeping on my down jacket. It's right under the air conditioning vent.

February 20th. Paris Miki.I was tired because I climbed a mountain yesterday. So, I woke up a little late.
I made soup with tofu, soy milk, potato, panpkin, some kinds of vegetable for my breakfast. Miya-O relaxed front of air conditioner vent after our medicine time.
Today was Thursday, so it was my shopping day.
I went to Aeon Town in Moriya City. First, I asked Paris Miki to replace the lenses of my sunglasses.
Two years ago Septenber, I lost my sunglasses while doing yard work at my wife's parents' house. I found them last October. They had been buried under dead leaves for a year. So the lenses were full of scratches, and some part of lens surface coating disappeared. I couldn't see very well. But I continued to use them.
This month, I replace the lenses. becouse, Paris Miki sends me a 2,000 yen off ticket every year in February that's my birthday month. I use that to replace my lenses. This is the third time I use the off ticket.
I met my friend Toshiro accidentally at the entrance of Aeon Town. In my brain, since the encounter was a very unlikely occurrence, I initially thought I must have seen something wrong. He had seen my car at the parking lot, so he didn't suspect anything. We talked a few minutes gossiping about our mutual friend Kazuo, about our PCs problems, and separated.
Then I bought a pack of paprika powder and a bottle each of white and red wine at KALDI. I also bought a bottle of cooking red wine at Kasumi. I bought a one pack of takoyaki included 8 balls at Gindako.
At last, I bought a futon cover at MUJI. However It was wrong. When I return to my home I realized a wrong buying. It was a bed mat cover, same size but thicker. So, I went to Moria again and changed it to a futon cover.
I called my friends Kazuo and invited him to come to my English class this Saturday. He talked me he want to learn English conversation before. He said he can't join us now because he's really busy with work. He's a celery farmer. But he's planning to join our class after Golden Week in May.
Finally Kazuo and I decided to have dinner tonight with Hideo and his families at spaghetti restaurant Sanpomichi.

February 19th. A fluororesin coating spray.I had two piece of hot sandwiches, sliced tomatoes, coleslaw salad, granola yogurt, and cafe au lait for my breakfast.
I tested SANKO KOKI JAPAN W-KOMURA f=28mm 1:3.5 No. 8241216 which I bought on Yahoo! Auctions on January 29th of this year for 980 yen, and Sankyo Koki Japan W-Komura- 1:2.5 f=35mm No. 3854058 which I bought for 520 yen today.
I decided to climb Mt. Hokyo today. I arrived at the public parking lot of Mt.Hokyo at 11:00.
I climed the Gokurakuji course along the mountain stream and took photos of smole falls. Today I used a wide-angle lens, so I got closer to the waterfall. It took a while to get into the mountain stream and get close to the photo spot. Therefore, the shooting points were less than usual, and shots were more than usual at each points.
The weather was nice but it was windy and very cold at the top. The panoramic views were spectacular in every direction. I was able to see the Pacific Ocean, Lake Kasumigaura, Tokyo Skytree, Mt. Fuji, the Nikko mountains, and more. It was not cold in the woods because the wind was blocked. I sweated both when I go up and down. On the way down, I took photos of Jizo Bodhisattva at the remains of a temple. The light at low position 4pm was low and slightly orange, which was good for taking photos.
I usually stop by Costco to fill up on gas and buy some food, but I forgot my wallet and didn't have my membership card, so I went straight home.
I made Unadon, and soup with tofu and some kinds of vegetable for my evening meal. I also had potato salad that my wife made. The Unagi Kabayaki was frozen food I bought from Coop.
I sometimes plus my Aladdin Blue Flame adding to an air conditioner. It heats up the room faster. I also have it on hand as a heater in case of a power outage.

February 18th. Yomogi Pan and Yomogi Mochi.I baked Yomogi Pan (mugwort bread) in my automatic electric bread maker. It has a mugwort scent and the cut surface is slightly green. I made mugwort bread hot sandwich with carrots, cabbage, onions, cheese, ham and eggs. I placed the finished sandwiches on the kitchen windowsill to dry. I had it for my breakfast. I also had potato salad, sliced tomato, sunnyside egg, and cafe au lite.
I made chicken ramen with a lot of carrots, cabbage, and onions, and topped it with sliced kumquats, wakame seaweed, and parsley for my lunch.
At 4pm, my brother gave me two Yomogi Mochi. I think they were given to him by my mother's family. One had Anko in it. The other one has Kinako on surface. I ate them right away. There were very delicious. I was not hungry at 7pm so I skipped an evening meal.

February 16th. Aubrey Beardsley Exhibition..My wife and I went to the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum in Marunouchi, Tokyo. We looked Aubrey Beardsley Exhibition.
Aubrey Beardsley (1872-1898) was a brilliant British painter who died at the age of 25. He created sophisticated works consisting of thin lines and black and white color planes.
My wife was interested in him, but I didn't know him. However my wife invited me, so I went.
His representative works are illustrations for Malory's "Le Morte d'Arthur" (1893-94) and Wilde's "Salome" (1894). The exhibition featured about 220 works, many of which were illustrations. As a result, the works were small in size and the exhibition was crowded. It was difficult to look at them closely up close. I was very tired.
My wife said to me. Actually, she hate his work. You have to see it to understand why it's popular, or see what you don't like to better define what you do like.
We had our lunch at a sandwich stand on the first basement floor of Shin-Maru Building. When we come to Marunouchi on Sundays, we usually have lunch here. The location, quantity, taste, and price are just right.
After that, my wife went to Tokyo Daimaru and I went to Yodobashi Multimedia Akihabara. I searched for a suitable laptop for me for a while. We got home at 5pm.
From 6pm, I had a birthday party at an izakaya with seven of my junior high school classmates. Me and one other classmate celebrated birthdays.

February 14th. My wife come to Iwai from Ueda.For breakfast, I had the beef curry I made yesterday, coleslaw salad, sliced tomatoes, and an apple.
My wife come to Iwai from Ueda, so I went to pick her up at Shimizu Park Station at 3:30pm.Then my wife and I went to our favorite Thai curry restaurant Coppun Cafe in Moriah, and she had pattai and I had red curry for our dinner. Recently on the day my wife comes back, the order of events usually goes something like this, Shimizu Park Station, Couppun Cafe.
My wife brought 2 Empanadas that she made at Ueda. She found a recipe for "empanada" on the web taught by a chef at the Argentine Embassy. Then she made 7 of them. My son had 5, she had 2 yestarday. My wife and I ate them of the reftover.

February 13th. Tokina SD 400mm 1:5.6 No,4003284.Yesterday I bought Calbee Hokkaido potatoes at Costco. I baked them in a Dutch oven for 20 minutes. They were delicious, and I had them for my breakfast with butter and soy sauce. This may be something Calbee produces as a raw material for making potato chips. It's a 3kg pack, but it's so delicious that I can eat it all. I also made and ate carrot and cabbage soup for my my breakfast.
I had a fried squid potato and vegetable soup for my lunch. the fried squid potato which is potatoes baked in a Dutch oven topped with readymade fried squid and sauce. I designed it. I also had a vegetable soup.
In the afternoon, the wind got really strong, dust and dirt blew up, and Mount Fuji became invisible.
I went to Torisen to buy daily foods. It was Thursday, so they did the senior 5% discount sieves.
I tried boiling carrots with maple syrup and sugar. I also made beef curry. I made a hot sandwich with cabbage, carrot, onion, ready-made friday squid, and cheese.
On February 10, 2025, I won the Tokina SD 400mm 1:5.6 No. 4003284 on Yahoo! Auctions for 2,090 yen (including shipping). It was in very good condition both inside and out, and I was able to use it right away.This evening, I took a photo of Mt.Fuji by this.

February 12th. Mt. Tsukuba. I arrived at Mount Tsukuba parking lot at 11. After taking a few photos of Tsukuba Shrine, I climbed Mt. Nyotai of Tsukubasan on the Hakuunkyo trail. I reached the top of the mountain at 2:30. I spent a lot of time taking pictures along the way. It was very nice at the summit, but the distance was hazy and I couldn't see very well. I didn't have time, so I didn't climb Mt. Nantai. So I walked and ate a sandwich. If I don't hurry, the sun will set. Since I thought I would be able to make it in time, I decided to take the Miyukigahara trekking course down the mountain instead of the cable car. I returned to Tsukuba Shrine at 4:30.
I took some evening photos of Tsukuba Shrine and then headed home. I bought a box of apples including 8 at Costco. They were out of stock of Greek yogurt, which I always buy. And I also filled up the FJ with gas.
I arrived home at 7 o'clock.

February 11th. cleaning day.I made a soup with cabbage, carrots, onions, and Negi. I topped it with canned tuna and served it. I also had anko toast, yogurt, and cafe au lait.
It's very dry. And today there was a strong wind, so the soil in the fields was blown up. It was so dusty that I couldn't see Mt. Fuji.
I had some sekihan, potato vegetable soup and natto for my lunch.
Miya-O chan was at the air conditioner vent. It was so dry. Static electricity was generated between Miya-O chan and me, and when I stroked her, I felt a tingling sensation and it discharged, which hurted.
I ate chicken balls with plenty of green onions and cabbage, and lotus root udon noodles topped with tuna and egg for my evening meal.T

February 10th. cleaning day.The library is closed on Mondays. What's more, my favorite soba restaurant Kimura is closed every Monday. So I rarely go out. Therefor Monday is my house cleaning day. I decide to do that almost every week.
Today was my cleaning day in a week. I spent to clean step by step from a southern room, including a veranda, a bathroom, a toilet, a kitchen, a dining room, and a stair room. There were excluding my room and the unused first floor. This week I'm going to clean once more in friday morning. I will clean my room too. Because my wife will return from Ueda at friday afternoon.

RAW image files are very large because they contain a lot of raw data for each pixel of the light sensor. Digital cameras have the ability to edit the captured RAW data and output it as an optimized JPEG file. Jpeg has less data amount but still has enough resolution for humans to see.
When I take photos with my digital camera, I record them using RAW files because when I get home, I edit them on my computer and extract them into Jpeg files. This takes time, but ensures high resolution even after editing.
In the morning I developed my RAW files with my cat.
I repaired an aluminum pot that was abandoned at my wife's parents' house.
The other day, I bought a fluororesin coating spray made by Fine Chemicals Co,Ltd from Monotaro. It was 4,178 yen including shipping. It's a transparent coating. The coating thickness is said to be 0.2 microns. To make it thicker, you have to apply it multiple times.
I sprayed this on the pan four times after sanding it. Then I baked it at 250 degrees C for 20 minutes. It's difficult to apply fluororesin evenly. To apply it thickly, you have to apply it dozens of times. I think it's better to ask Yamayoshi Seisakusho to do the fluororesin processing.
However, I thought this spray is effective for small items such as camera and lens parts.
For dinner, I had fried chicken. Chicken breasts were marinated in Jack Daniel's steak sauce and mixed nut paste for a day, then coated with tempura flour and fried. I also had oden and tofu vegetable soup. I

February 7th. "Novar Anastigmat" 1:6.3 F=13.5cm Nr.792981I had a bowl of vegetable soup, Sekihan, yogurt granola, tomato salad and Cafe all left for my breakfast.

The image on the left shows the “Novar-Anastigmat” 1:6.3 F=13.5cm Nr.792981 mounted on my Sony ILCE-7RM3 via a bellows. This lens was apparently produced between 1930 and 1960 by the Optische Anstalt Saalfeld in Saalfeld Germany. I remember winning it on Yahoo! Auctions for a very low price, as it was just the lens and the rear fixing ring was missing. I think it was about 1500 yen including shipping. I forgot to record it on my PC, so it wasn't on my stock list. So I forget where I got it from or the exact price.
Recently, I was able to get the essential fixing ring on Yahoo! Auctions for 1000 yen. I then remounted it on a Canon FL mount.I

February 6th. KOWA Super Prominar-W is good.I made a vegetable soup looks like Zoni. I had it with a cap of cafe au lait for my breakfast.
I arrived the public parking lot at Mt.Hokyo at10:00. I climbed the top using the Oda Castle trail course. I arrived the top around 12:00. When I take the Oda Castle course and climb to the top, it takes less time than the Gokurakuji course because there are not many spots to take photos.
At the top, it was a clear day and I could see far into the distance, but it was windy and very cold. I ate my lunch in a sheltered spot at the antenna facility rather than at the summit.
I took photos of many small waterfalls on my way down the Gokurakuji trail. As always, it took a while. I got off the mountain and arrived at the parking lot at 3:00.
My younger brother called me and said "My mother's parents family give me a pack of each Sekihan and Sumitsukari, so you come to my home and pick up them." At my mother's family home, they make Sekihan and Sumitsukari Hatsuuma day. Hatsu meens the farst. Uma meens the Horse in the twelve horary signs. So, Hatsuuma is the farse day of the Horse. It is a festival day for the Inari god. This year's Hatsuuma is February 6th.
I went to my younger brother's house to pick them up around 5 o'clock. On the way home, I took a picture of the silhouette of Mt. Fuji using a Canon 300mm lens.

Today I spent the whole day entering data for accounting bills and receipts. I'm a bit worried because I have to file my tax return once a year and I forget a lot of things because It is once a year. It was tiring to sit and looked at a computer or checking receipts like that all the time, so sometimes I polish my old lenses to take my mind off things in a while.

February 3rd. Last year my medical expensesi. I made grilled ganmodoki, lettuce salad, cafe au lait, and Tsukimi soba. Soba noodles with raw egg are called Tsukimi soba (moon viewing soba) because the egg yolk looks like a full moon. If I really want to eat soba noodles, I make them from dried soba noodles. When I emailed my wife about it with a picter, she was surprised that I'm eating soba noodles in the morning.
Today I spent the whole day with Mia-O entering data for accounting bills. I used to have almost no medical expenses, but last year my medical expenses exceed 100,000 yen.However more than half of that was for regular health check-ups.

February 1st. tree MUJI brand items. Recently, I set the timer to turn on the air conditioner one hour before I get up. So, this morning, Miya-O chan was sitting in front of the air conditioner vent before I even woke up.
I cooked potatoes soy sauce flavor, and grilled ganmodoki. I was given a lot of Negi yesterday, so I made soup with Negi in the morning. I had them for my breakfast. I also had granola yogurt and cafe au leit.

I bought tree MUJI brand items, a portable thermos pod, a cold water jar, and a heat-resistant glass jar. The thermos pod is for cafe au lait, the heat-resistant glass jar is for hot barley tea, and the cold water jar is for cold-brewed green tea.
I bought OLYMPUS OM-SYSTEM S ZUIKO AUTO-ZOOM 1:4 f=75-150mm No.276091 from Yahoo auction in May 2024. I disassembled and cleaned it. I use it with a digital camera via a mount adapter with a helicoid.
