January 31st. Mt Fuji, Mt. Tskuba and Mt. Houkyo.
I woke up early in the morning, I had a bowl of soup with chicken balls and vegetables that were leftover from last night. I also had granola yogurt and cafe au leit. Then I made a hot sandwich with ham, cheese, small bell pepper, onion, cabbage, and a egg for my lunch box. I gave Miya-O her medicines as usual.

I went out before sunrise from my house to my favorite view Mt.Fuji point nearby my Fossil-like lenses renovation factory.
I had taken a photo of Mt. Fuji from this spot before, and I thought that it might look different in color if I took it just after sunrise. I was able to take a picture of Mt. Fuji dyed in pastel pink, as shown in the photo. I photographed with RMC Tokina 400mm 1:5.6 No. 8601774. After that, I moved to Shimousa Tone Bridge. I shot Mt.Tsukuba. When I crossed this bridge, I always thought that this spot, where the paper mill Rengo and Mt. Tsukuba overlap, would be a good place to take photos. I was able to take the photo I had in my mind. It might be even better right after sunrise. I'll try that sometime.

I went home once and changed my photography gears from a Tokina 400mm to a Komura 300mm and OLYMPUS OM-SYSTEM S ZUIKO AUTO-ZOOM 1:4 f=75-150mm No.276091. I went to Mt.Houkyou and arrived at the trail head at 10:30 am.
There are a series of small waterfalls in a mountain stream beside the Gokurakuji Course trail in Mt.Houkyou. I took a few photos at my favorite waterfalls. This is what I do when I take a photo of this small waterfall these days. I check through the viewfinder, remove any fallen leaves or twigs that may be in the way, and clean up the area around the waterfall. Then, compose the shot and press the shutter.

On the way back, I stopped by MUJI inside Iias Tsukuba and bought a new portable thermos pot and a heat-resistant glass jar for barley tea. They were in the process of expanding their chocolate section into the hall on the first floor of Iias.

January 30th. my Saba miso.
I defrosted some frozen self-made curry and made curry rice by putting sliced tomatoes, fried eggs, and chopped green bell peppers on Jyuurokkoku-mai(16-grain rice) for my breakfast. I also made and had an onion soy milk soup and cafe au leit.

I went to Torisen and bought some foods, for example fish, vegetables, Nerimono that is made from fish meat, which is shaped and then steamed or fried.
I made Saba miso. My recipe is to stew mackerel in a sauce made with miso and pre-made mixed nut paste in a 1:2 ratio. It make half the salt and twice the flavor.
I also made Oden. It`s easy to make, so I do ofen.

It must be because it's cold that Miya-O chan slept here all day.

January 29th. I love soba.
I had yesterday's leftover soup for my breakfast.

I see a doctor every 8 weeks. I saw my doctor at 9:30 am. After the consultation, there was no change and he gave me the prescription. I was prescribed 3 types of medicine for 56 days, the same as usual.

I went to Tsukuba City. I had soba at my favorite soba restaurant Kimura. After that, I went to Mt.Houkyou. I arrived at the trailhead around 1:30 pm. I started climbing on the Joganji course. I took a few of photos of small waterfalls on the way. In Japan, a waterfall is defined as a natural flowing water with a drop of 5m or more. Therefore, although these are not waterfalls, it’s just a mountain stream. But I call them "small waterfalls".
When I decide on the composition and look through the viewfinder, the fallen leaves and twigs near the waterfall stand out because the waterfall is so small. So I remove anything that is an eyesore around the waterfall in the viewfinder. Yes, I clean up and then press the shutter. So it takes time.
I can't do that when I travel with my wife. In such cases, chosed the composition that no distracting objects are reflected as I can.
This time, instead of going to the top, I traversed to the Jyunpei trail and went down the Gokurakuji course.

I returned my home at 5:30 p.m. For my evening meal, I also had soba noodles. I made them myself by boiling dried soba noodles.

January 28th. a dream for me.
I had green curry vegetable soup, grilled atsuage, stewed carrots and lotus root, granola yogurt, and cafe au lait for my breakfast.
As usual, I put the cat in the shoe bag and gave her medicine. Recently I've gotten used to this task so it's done very quickly.

I've been sorting and entering financial data all day today. I downloaded credit card statements and bank statements and more. In the past, you had to wait for the credit card company to send it to you in the mail or go to the bank and enter it in your passbook, but now it's so convenient and feels like a dream for me.

I made a soup with tofu, chicken balls, carrots, peppers, onions, cabbage, and green onions. I also made a stew of konjac and burdock. I had them for my evening meal.

January 27th. SANKYO KOHKI Komura f=300mm 1:5 No.3314042.
Before breakfast, around 6:45. I went to a spot where Mt. Fuji was clearly visible to take some photos. I photographed with SANKYO KOHKI Komura f=300mm 1:5 No.3314042. I also took some photos of the paper mill with the same lens at the same place.

I had a bowl of soup with some kinds of vegetable and soy milk, granola yogurt, and cafe au lait for my breakfast.

I did desk work with my cat. Miya-O was on the stamp pad, so her fur was dyed red.

I made tandoori chicken, sliced tomato salad, vegetable soup, and stewed carrots and lotus root for my evening meal. I tried tandoori chicken with tempura flour and fried it. It was more delicious than wheat flour.

January 26th. A shoe bag cat.
My cat has kidney disease. So I give her 3 types of medicine every morning. I put her in a shoe bag to restrain her. She hates medicine time, but it doesn't seem to be that painful. Because she resists but doesn't have any strength.
I am used to seeing this cat scene, but I wondered what cat lovers around the world thought. So I uploaded this image to Flickr.

In May 2024, I bought a set of 12 junk Olympus OM mount lenses for 3,500 yen. Of those, four lenses were not damaged or badly stained, I disassembled and cleaned them and they became usable. So, the cost is about 1000 yen each. I am using them with a digital camera via a mount adapter with a helicoid. OLYMPUS OM-SYSTEM S ZUIKO AUTO-ZOOM 35~70mm 1:3.5-4.5 143233 is one of them.

This season, the silhouette of Mt. Fuji after sunset is beautiful, so I often take its photos. I also shoot Mt. Fuji for infinite focusing tests.

January 25th. Nissin Chicken Ramen.
Nissin Chicken Ramen is an instant ramen that you just add hot water to. For me, it's too salty so I wash it in hot water once and then pour hot water over it again. This method will cut your salt intake in half.
I recently came up with this idea: for the second bath, use the hot water to boil lots of vegetables. And, dissolve walnut paste in the hot water to give it a rich flavor. And you add eggs, it's nutritionally perfect. As shown in the picture on the left.

My wife's nephew sent me some Sembikiya jelly. It looks delicious.

January 24th. Ebideko.
My wife doesn't like konnyaku very much. I like it, so I often make konnyaku dishes. I tried boiling konnyaku, burdock, and fried tofu together.
I made Ebideko. Ebideko is a corrupted form of Ebi (shrimp) and Daikon (radish) in the southwestern part of Ibaraki Prefecture. It is made by simmering small shrimp and radish in soy sauce.
In my case, I parboil the radish in a pressure cooker. I add a little maple syrup, Nam pla(fish sauce) and Tabasco sauce along with dashi, sake, mirin, sugar and soy sauce. I also add Negi(green part), however remove it later.
I had these two dishes with a self made vegetable-filled sauce yakisoba and cafe au lait for my lunch.
For my evening meal, I added sliced apple and lettuce salad, but the rest of the menu was the same as for my lunch.

January 23rd. Nissin brand bread flour.
For my breakfast , I had the leftover sandwich and corn soup from last night. I also had granola yogurt, and cafe au leit. Miya-O had some dried cat food.
For my lunch, I made a cabbage, carrot, onion and tofu hotpot and soba noodles.

I always use Nissin brand bread flour (specially selected strong flour). I used to be able to buy it at the nearby Kasumi store, but now I can't find it. So I buy it from Amazon. The cost is the same, including shipping. This flour is the best for baking bread in my automatic electric bread maker. The flavor, texture and taste is excellent, so I think it's the best value for the money that I can get easy.

The kitchen knife my son bought me is double-edged. I've never sharpened a double-edged knife before, so I watched YouTube to see how to do it.

January 22nd. Mt. Houkyo.
I left my home for Mt. Houkyo around 10:30. It was much later than I had planned. I arrived in Tsukuba at 11:30, and felt like eating soba. So I stopped by my favorite soba restrant Kimura and had seiro soba. Then I went ahead to Mt. Houkyo.

Today, I removed the fallen leaves and the dead branches around this waterfall and cleaned it up before taking photos, so it took a long time to take just one spot. So I reached the summit at 4pm. It was about 40 minutes until sunset. I decided to wait until sunset and see the silhouette of Mt. Fuji before heading down. However, there were clouds around Mt. Fuji, and even though it was getting close to sunset, the silhouette did not appear. I gave up and decided to head down the mountain without waiting for sunset.
There is an antenna facility at the top of Mt. Houkyo. Three vehicles that appeared to be from the Self-Defense Forces were parked there, and they were doing some kind of work. They don't seem to be going downhill at all. They've been working there for a few days. Because there were several security cameras around the area.
On the way down, it got dark and I couldn't see the trail so I used the headlamp I brought with me. I safely descend the mountain and arrived home around 7pm.

For my evening meal, I had a leftover sandwich, corn soup, tomato and lettuce salad, and sliced apple.

January 21st. the good way get a refill food.
Miya-O is 10 years old、and has had kidney disease since she was 9. So she meets her doctor every 3 month. I give her 3 types of medicine every morning. I put her in a shoe bag and fix her like in the picture on the left. This is not difficult because I'm used to this. She hates the medicine time, but it doesn't seem to be that painful. Because she resists but doesn't have any strength.I changed her food from the cheapest cat food in Homac to a kidney care food that her doctor recommended. It cost ten times as much.

It's been over a year since she started treatment and she is doing good and running around my house like a kitten. Her weight used to be around 3.7kg, but at one point it dropped to around 3.3kg when she got an illness. Now she eats a lot and her weight is around 4kg. A little bit overweight I think. So I limit her to 60g per a day. The cat food package says so. Howeve she doesn't accept the limited amount. She asks for more food. She meows, makes noise, drops things, clings to me. I ignore her, as I can.
Recently, she found a good way get a refill food refill. The way is by sitting in front of her food bowl and just staring at me. Without making a sound and just staring at me the whole time. I can't ignore it and I immediately give her food. She has a very high success rate of getting food using this method. So now she weighs 4.4kg.
I have become worried about another illness.

I had a soup with chikuwa, aburaage and a lot of vegetables, and natto for my breakfast. I also had lettuce tomato salad with sunny side egg, greluda atsuage and cafe au lait.
For my lunch, I had renkon soba, a soup with chikuwa, egg and lots of vegetables. I also had some thinly sliced pickled turnip.

I cleaned and maintained some part of the Olympus OM system lenses.

January 20th. The Olympus OM system.
I had a beef bowl that was a leftover from last night for my breakfast.

I found some frozen mugwort in my freezer. It was something my mother-in-law had grown, harvested, boiled, and frozen while she was still alive. Adding, I divided it into a smaller amount for one use and froze it. And once frozen, they all look the same. It was at the back of the freezer and I couldn't find it until now.
I baked a mugwort bread in my electric automatic bread maker. I did not add graham flour. It resulted in a soft bread with a slightly bitter mugwort flavor.
I had the freshly baked mugwort bread with Yudeadzuki(sweet boiled adzuki beans, almost the same as anko) for my lunch.

The Olympus OM system is a single-lens reflex camera system that was released in 1972 when I entered Univ. The system was innovative and small and lightweight compared to Canon, Minolta, Nikon. But I had no interest in it at the time. Now I think it's a great system.
I have a few jank lenses of the Olympus OM system. I choose ones with less mold and dirt, clean and maintain them so that they can be used with my digital camera.

Miya-O was in a sunny room, but it seems that direct sunlight is too hot for her.

January 19th. I had some muscle pain.
I had salmon cream stew that was a leftover from last night for my breakfast. I also had granola yogurt, salad with sliced tomato, apple, and lettuce, toasted a piece of bread, and cafe au lait.
I simmered a ready-made beef bowl adding a lot of Hakusai, negi, small bell pepper for my evening meal. I also had some thinly sliced pickled turnip.
Yesterday I climbed the mountain comfortably, but today I had some muscle pain. So I didn't go out and I did housekeeping, and my lens maintenance.

January 18th. Mt. Houkyo.
I had a curry-flavored soup with tofu and a few kinds of vegetables for my breakfast.
I made a hot sandwich with ham, cabbage, payment, carrot, tamanegi and cheese for my lunch box.
I arrived at the public parking lot at Hokyosan around 10:30, but it was full. So I parked in the Hachiman Shrine hidden parking llot, which is well known to those in the know. There is an ambiguous location between a shrine and the side of the road. Maybe it's part of the approach to the shrine. There is space for five cars, luckily there was one left.
Today I climbed Mt. Hokyo, and took a few photos to test my modified old lenses. They were OLYMPUS OM-SYSTEM S ZUIKO AUTO-ZOOM 35~70mm 1:3.5-4.5 143233 and N.K.K Sankor 2.75inch F 1:2.0 No.30540.

Mr. Ando, who loves coffee, gifted me a stylish orange coffee dripper and cups.

For my evening meal, I made cream stew with turnip, potatoes, carrots, onions, and salmon.

January 17th. My Number card.
In the morning, with Miya-O was jyammer, I wrote a report on the dentist's work status (my situation) to the director of the Koga Public Health Center. I also wrote a notice of suspension of my dental practice. It's a legal procedure. Both are reports on paper. I mailed the printed paper report. It is possible to report online, but I've been doing it on paper for almost 40 years. I cannot change..

The electronic certificate written on the My Number card has a 5-year validity period. In my case, I need to renew it by my next birthday. So today I went to Bando City Hall to renew my card. Two PIN numbers were required for the procedure, but I forgot them. So I also went to reset my PIN.

I climbed up to the fourth floor of the city hall hoping to get a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji. Unfortunately, I couldn't see Mt. Fuji, but I could see Mt. Tsukuba very well.

I made a curry-flavored soup using tofu and a few kinds of vegetables for my evening meal.

January 16th. selling my old cameras.
Miya-O Chan relaxed after her breakfast. However her medicine time was waiting. If I give her medicine right after her breakfast, there is a high chance she will vomit it in, so I try to give her medicine about 30 minutes after her breakfast.
Miya-O Chan relaxed again after her medicine time.

At 11 am when I was working at my desk, someone came to my front door. He seemed to be a visiting staff member of the company "Handyman Atto" in Takadanobaba Tokyo. He seemed to be going around the neighborhood to buy unwanted items, for example precious metal accessories, cameras, watches, etc.
I talked to him for a few minutes because I wanted to know the buying price and distribution channel of old cameras. Then I began wanting to sell my old cameras to him. So I asked him please come again 30 minutes later. Then I picked five old digital cameras that worked but I no longer needed, and I also picked six broken cameras from my junk storage.
Thirty minutes later, he came back and started the deal. He took pictures of my cameras with his cell phone and sent them to his company, and a few minutes later they sent back the purchase price.
The two digital cameras and four junk cameras were worthless. The others, 3 digital cameras and 2 junk cameras sold for a total of 9,500 yen. I think I got a good deal. I would have made half that if I had sold them myself on Yahoo! Auctions.
To my surprise, I sold a broken Canon compact film camera for 500 yen and a broken Konica SLR( Single-lens reflex)camera body for 1000 yen. He said that depending on the model, the parts may be rare and trade at high prices. Anyway, It was my surprise

I

January 15th. my favorite soba restaurant Kimura.
I went to Costco in Tsukuba City and filled up my FJ with gas. Even if I go all the way to Tsukuba and back, the cost of filling up my FJ is cheaper at Costco than at a nearby gas station.
I had tenseiro at my favorite soba restaurant Kimura. Kimura's soba is something they can be proud of, so I think it would be nice for soba-loving foreigners to come here. However, I haven't seen it yet. There is the huge sign of my favorite soba restaurant.
The mark above is a Maru ni Yotsume-bishi(four-eyed diamond in a circle).
石臼挽(Ishiusu biki):We grind buckwheat seeds in a millstone.
自家製粉(Jikaseifun):We turn the seeds into buckwheat flour at our own home.
純手打ち(Jyunteuchi):Purely hand-made
そば(Soba)
きむら(Kimura)

I walked around Doho park and nearby, and took some pictures to test for my modified 35mm movie projector lens, Keihan Opt.Co.Ltd. PROSKAR-w f=89(3.50) 1:2.0 No.600413.

I got home at 5 pm.

January 14th. new handles for my fluororesin coating frying pans.
I made a huge omelette with lots of vegetables and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese. I can't make this without a non-stick, fluororesin-coated frying pan.
I had it for my breakfast and my evening meal.

I tried to repair the broken aperture blades by making them myself, but failed. I thought the production method and materials are good, but I realized that I needed to make the blades with better dimensional accuracy. However, making 13 blades of the same shape with high dimensional precision is an extremely difficult task. Is there a way to make it more easily and accurately with the tools I have now? I am thinking.

The fluororesin coating was destroyed by overheating the frying pan. So they applied the coating again. Ther handles were also gone.
I made new handles for them. In most of these cases, I make it more unique than what was originally there. I use waste materials for them. I collect materials from waste and store them. Aluminum is especially useful, so I always store it. When pruning trees, I cut off branches that can be used for handles and dry them.

January 13th. Charumera.
I made and had a soy milk hotpot for my lunch. I also made and had Charumera for my evening meal.

When I wake up in the morning, my lower back always hurts. Usually it heals within an hour, but today it hurt all day. The pain on the left side was different from usual, so maybe I slept in a bad position last night.

January 12th. four frying pans.
I made Oden in the morning.
I got back four frying pans that I had Yamayoshi Seisakusho in Niigata City coat with fluororesin.
I used one of them to make a sauce Yakisoba with many vegetables. For my breakfast and my evening meal, I had sauce yakisoba.I had oden for my lunch.

Walnut tart made by my wife was very delicious.

January 11th. silhouette of Mt. Fuji.
I attended the Saturday English class at 10:00 a.m. Michael sensei corrected to my November English diary. There were my 48 mistakes, but at the same time there were two pages without any mistakes. I got two perfect pages. I achieved my goal of having less than 100 mistakes. I set my next goal to get more than 50% no mistake pages.

All of today's meals were hot pot. A hotpot is perfect.
Miya-O was in a sunny spot. She is good at finding warm places. Miya-O has recently become more energetic and has runaround my house. She is eating well and now weighs 4.4kg (previously 3.6kg).

Recently, I've been seeing the beautiful silhouette of Mt. Fuji after sunset. Every day, I go out at 4:30 pm to take photos. I take photos from the same spot, but clouds and the color of the sky change depending on the weather, resulting in a different view.

January 10th. A hotpot is perfect.
It's cold, so a hotpot is perfect. It's a simple dish and doesn't take much time and hands. It's warming and delicious.
I need to eat a lot of vegetables, so I just throw in all kinds of vegetables I have in my fridge. Sometimes I use frozen sweet corn, edamame, burdock, and more. I simmer these vegetables with sake and dashi. Add some protein like egg, chicken meatballs, tofu, soy milk, or sliced pork.
I use two types of readymade dashi combination seafood based and meat based. For example, nam pla(fish sauce) and Maggi Bouillon. Add a few drops of Tabasco sauce for a secret flavour. Sometimes I use Jack Daniel's BBQ sauce for a secret flavour.
I have to hang my iPhone around my neck all day long. Otherwise, I'll forget it somewhere. So I need a string to attach to it, and I need a case with a string.
I bought a transparent vinyl case with a string on Amazon two years ago for 1100 yen which broke within a year of use. So I bought a new case produced by ELECOM for about 2000 yen. It didn't come with a string, but it had a hole through which the string could pass.I need to find the right string and I want this case to last more than two years.

January 9th. My kitchen knife .
Today I made stew with sweetcorn, edamame, potatoes, hakusai, and onions. I had it for my breakfast and my evening meal.

Recently, I've been seeing the beautiful silhouette of Mt. Fuji after sunset. Every day, I go out at 4:30 pm to take photos. I take photos from the same spot, but the color of the sky changes depending on the weather, resulting in a different view.

My kitchen knife I had been using for over 40 years has worn down and become smaller. Recently it has become bent and no longer cuts straight. My son bought me a new kitchen knife as a gift in return for a hometown tax donation from Seki City. It is a Damascus model Santoku knife made by Kiichi Seki. It's heavier and 1.5 times thicker than the previous model, and it's very well balanced and easy to use.Since this is a double-edged knife, it is not suitable for thin slicing, so I will use the existing knife as well.

January 8th. Projection lenses .
I made grilled pork, sausage and vegetable stew for my breakfast.

I've finished modifying my six 35mm projector lenses, I spent the whole day field testing them today, and walked more than 10km. From the test results, I found some points that need further work and improvement.

Naturally, projection lenses are designed to have a different design principle than photographic lenses, so they produce large aberrations that are unacceptable for photography. Therefore, if you can take advantage of this, you can obtain images that would never be possible with a photographic lens. Normally, Photographers choose suitable lenses for their subject. However, the role of users of non-photographic or old lenses is to find suitable subjects for them.

January 7th. COEI PEARL F:3.5inch No.1011.
The image on the left above is COEI PEARL F:3.5inch No.1011. This is a 35mm movie projection lens. I modified it to a Canon EF mount. The previous modification was incomplete at the joint, so I improved it and modified it again to perfection.
I took a video of the process of modifying the lens. I uploaded it to my YouTube channel.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0GGwnUeVTM&t=148s
I took some photos with this lens to test it out.

The image on the far right is Steinheil Munchen Cassar 1:4.5 f=105mm VL Nr,678458. I bought it with its special bellows on Yahoo! Auctions for 4,030 yen. It is a close-up lens that relies on bellows for focusing.
Steinheil was a long-established optical industry company based in Munich. The company was founded in 1855 by Karl August von Steinheil and existed until 1995. The serial number suggests that this lens was manufactured in 1950.

January 6th. five apples.
Today's meals were sausage and vegetable soup, and Osechi leftovers, Kuromame, Kinton, Oshiruko, and more.
I had a bit of buckwheat flour, wheat flour, tempura flour, etc. They were leftovers collecting little by little from my wife's cake making, soba making, and New Year's dishes making. I added my usual favorite flour to it and baked bread using my electric automatic bread maker. As expected, it didn't rise well, but it was delicious, especially the edges, which had a cracker-like texture.

While I was modifying my old lens, someone rang the intercom at my front door. He seemed to be lost. He parked his truck in my parking lot and asked me how to get to Midori-cho Bando city. I told him"Midori-cho is very close, 2 blocks away. You can see that traffic light. Turn right at that light, turn left at the second intersection, go through the first traffic light, and Midori-cho is just ahead on the left." He gave me five apples as a thank you. He told me he comes from Kuroishi a town neighboring Hirosaki Aomori Prefecture, to sell his apples. I felt nostalgic and talked to him for a while. Finaly I said be careful and have a nice business. And we parted ways.

January 5th. created a work plan.
My wife was returning to Ueda, so I took her to Shimizu Koen Station in the morning.

This is a 35mm movie projector lens that I started modifying this afternoon. The last one of the seven projector lenses I bought from yahoo auction. It was a bit of a hassle, so I've been putting it off.
In this case, the cutting process was complicated, so I took precise measurements and created a work plan.

Selfcooking is back again from this evening meal. I have to make my own meals.
I made soba porridge. All you have to do is add ingredients to some frozen sobayu (soba boiling water) and simmer.

January 4th. KOWA Super Prominar-W is good.
I made our breakfast. My wife made soba noodles and tempura for our dinner.

I went for a walk with my wife. We saw a paper mill, walked through rice fields, went to Nagaya temple and came back. I think we walked about 10 kilometers. I took lots of pictures.

KOWA Super Prominar-W f/1.9 3.00in No. 631287 is different from other 35mm movie projector lenses, and I've been using it a lot recently. I use it a lot because it's light and has a good own shape, and it's easy to focus and bright. The bokeh is not bad either.
Today I used this lens including to take some photos of my cat.

January 3rd. Matsukazari.
No one will come to visit you on New Year's Day. You should not visit anyone. Even so, people still arrange flowers and hang Matsukazari(pine decorations) at their entrances. This is to welcome the gods.
I didn't do anything impressive today. I watched some TV with my wife, some movies on Prime Video, and some YouTube. We had Osechi food for our meals.

January 2nd. New Year's party.
Every year my brother-in-law holds a New Year party at my wife's parents house. It is every January 2nd. My wife's parents started this custom almost a harf century ago.

My wife's older brother and his wife hosted a New Year's party at my wife's father's house, starting at noon. My wife's mother passed away a few years ago, but my wife's father is still healthy. He was smiling throughout the party.

One of my wife's nieces gave birth to a boy last year, so her family has three members. My wife's nephew got married last year, so his family has two members. His wife is interested in making soba noodles, so we made them together at our house on New Year's Eve.

There were 11 people at the party, including myself, my wife, and our son. It was a lively, delicious, fun, and happy party.
My son is on holiday duty tomorrow, so he went back to Ueda in the middle of the party.

Around 7pm, everyone went back to their homes.

I hope we can all get together at Obon next time.

January 1st. Happy New Year.
All of my family menbers had the first breakfast of the year. We ate the zoni and the osechi that my wife made. The mochi in particular was delicious and came from my mother's pealent family. They gives us some home made mochi every year.

Since 2007, my wife and I have been training for marathons on New Year's Day. We ran about 40km. I miss those days. We stopped in 2015, 10 years ago. Due to my own physical condition or my father's illness or my wife's mo ther`s illness, we never resumed the training for the New Year's marathons.

In the afternoon, my wife made a cake and I made a pork dish for the New Year's party tomorrow.
